自分が面白いと感じる研究をする / Do Interesting Research

新屋が恩師から受けた座右の銘です．研究を進めていると悩むこともあります．ですが，自分が面白いと感じて研究を進めれば，共感してくれる人は必ず現れます．面白いと感じれば研究対象は広がり，様々な解決手法を駆使する必要があります．多数の方々の協力が不可欠です（日々感謝）．一人で考え抜く力も大事ですが，分野の異なる研究者と議論するコミュニケーション力も培わなければなりません．

This is the motto that Niiya received from his supervisor. You sometimes get worried while doing your research. However, if you proceed with research that you find interesting, you will find someone who sympathizes with your research. If you find it interesting, you must expand your research subjects and use various solution methods. The cooperation of many people is essential (we are grateful every day). The ability to think through independently is necessary, but you must also develop communication skills to discuss with researchers from different fields.

For Students of the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Agriculture at Niigata University

新屋は新潟大学災害・復興科学研究所に所属していますが，理学部理学科と農学部農学科のフィールド科学人材育成プログラムの協力教員です．当研究室では，フィールド科学人材育成プログラムの卒論生を受け入れることが可能です．研究室見学等を希望される方は新屋までメールでご連絡ください．また，災害・復興科学研究所の河島先生（雪氷学研究室）と合同で研究室を運営していますので，雪氷学研究室に配属された理学部理学科自然環境科学プログラムの卒論生も指導可能です．

Niiya is affiliated with Research Institure of Natural Hazards and Disaster Recovery (NHDR) at Niigata University and is a cooperating faculty member of Program of Field Research in Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Agriculture. Our laboratory can accept graduate thesis students from this program. If you want to tour the laboratory, please get in touch with Niiya by email. In addition, since Niiya run the laboratory jointly with Professor Kawashima (Glaciology Laboratory) at NHDR, Niiya is also able to supervise graduating thesis students from Program of Environmental Science, Faculty of Science, who are assigned to Glaciology Laboratory.

For Thoes Who Wish to Become a Postdoctoral Researcher

新屋は日本学術振興会特別研究員の受入が可能です．また，博士の学位を取得されている方には，災害・復興科学研究所の博士研究員の身分を付与し，研究活動を行うことが可能です．当研究室の研究内容に興味を持たれた方は新屋までメールでご連絡ください．

Niiya can accept Research Fellowship for Young Scientists in Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). In addition, those who have secured (plan to ensure) their budget will be granted the status of postdoctoral researcher at NHDR and will be able to conduct research activities.
